generic male vs the evil genie by melora generic male vs the evil genie by melora
Okay, so I've already uploaded this in a variety of places and got some useful crits on it, so I was going to take them on board and change some things around before uploading here but I've got some other things to do so the generic male is just going to have to wait. But it does mean you can have a field day telling me everything that is wrong with it and for once I might actually get around to working on it some more.

EDIT: Never say I don't listen to criticism!

I love how there's a story behind this scene. It really sparks my imagination. Lovely.

the composition here is fabulous! I love the colors, the details--right down tot he lacoste logo on the guy's polo shirt! generic indeed, haha. that bluish wisp circling out of the lamp ties it all together. :)

It's very nicely done although in my opinion it would look better if the boy was from a different time period.

This is way cool! I love the concept. Your graphic style is amazing!

One thing I didn't get, though: what's with the Aztec calendar on the background? I think you should have gone for something more Arabian, maybe. Everything else, I love.

so far so good. i like the difference in rendering between your generic male and the evil genie. as a suggestion. you could change the chain to look like a spell is tethering the genie. just a thought.

He looks pretty generic, but still kind of unique. I suggest looking at some Zellers polo shirts. Perhaps his hair should be more spiky, especially into the mini-mohawk thing generic guys do.

I find this funny in a dark sorta way.

What's wrong with the generic male?

I think it fits perfectly... isn't it supposed to be the Average Joe who finds the lamp, anyway?

Wow, I really like it. I'm not sure I could critisise it much either. I can see that the Male needs some work but the genie is awesome. :):)

Oh kick ass! I saw this over at the evil genie page, and I voted for it. now that I know youre over here too, thats cool!
i posted one too, but it was too late in the game.
I love the layers, and the translucency you give to the genie -
and the ancient atmosphere you give to the whole piece - even though he's wearing modern cloths, the entire scene is aged.
Freakin beautiful.

I can't think of anything I'd change. I enjoy this little "story" image so much! The fact that he's generic makes him easy to identify with.
pureart Featured By Owner Feb 23, 2008
So is the male meant to be generic? Is that one of the things people were unhappy with?
I must say I'm unhappy about it.. just so out of place like wtf?! Haha but I can see the good in that... a generic male make the whole not typical. So I'm optimistic about that aspect :P

But I really like it as a whole. Work work work, please! :P

hooo, I recignice the backgroud, its the image of the aztec callendar, an ancient callendar of the mexican natives, it is also called sun callendar. It's interesting the relation in the picture, the callendar was used to determine the war time, harvest time, and other cosmic events like the end of the human time. And I can recognice the figure of "la coatlicue" a godess that got the heats of thousands human sacrifices.
